The 15th running of the Irish St Leger was held on Wednesday 18th September 1929 over 1 mile 6 furlongs of The Curragh. The winner was owned by Mr William Barnett, trained by Richard Dawson and ridden by Michael Beary. A purse of £2000 allowed for the second to receive 100 sovereigns and the third 50 sovereigns, while the breeder of winner 100 sovereigns and the second 50 sovereigns. The winner won by a short head with 10 lengths between second and third.

  Betting After winning the Epsom Derby and the Doncaster St Leger, Trigo was a very warm favourite to complete the treble. He did so, but only by a short head and he was immediately retired to stud in Ireland.
